!±8± Use a Beginner Drum Set Lesson Book to Learn to Play Drums

Try using a beginner drum set lesson book to learn how to play the drums. There are many books offering drum set lessons suitable to learn on your own. This is a great tool to use anytime and at your own pace. You will find that each drum book available at music stores and online will differ in their approach of instruction. You, the student, will have to take the time to figure out what manual will work for you.

Where to find drum manuals

You can find many drum manuals at your local music store. They will vary in prices depending on the content, added CD/DVD, and the author that wrote it.

Even try online and possibly get a better deal than you would from a brick and mortar establishment. Not to forget to mention, by searching online, you will be exposed to other authors/musicians selling their books that you will not find in stores.

You found your book

You finally purchase your drum lesson book and are ready to embark on the journey of playing the drums. The most important step is to setting up a plan as to how you will self-teach. First, write down on paper when and the amount of time in the day that you will devote to practicing. Will it be in the morning, afternoon, or at night? Will you practice for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour?

Next, what will you practice? This is important in that it will help you stay on target of your learning. Focus on the basics until you are solid at what you are performing before moving onto more difficult lessons. In other words, perform the simplest techniques slowly and purposely and gradually increase your speed until fully confident. Do the same for all of the exercises. What is wonderful about learning from these lessons is that you can refer back to them at anytime and brush up what you might need to strengthen.

Take a lesson

Do not be opposed to taking a lesson or two from a qualified drum teacher. There is always room for improvement and new techniques. The private lesson will enhance what you have learned and broaden your awareness to different styles of playing. Be sure to share with your teacher the book that you are learning from. He or she may work from the one you have or suggest something different.

Have fun learning

Have fun learning from your book all the steps that it takes to be a great drummer. Some steps may be difficult but if you are patient and focused, you will overcome the difficulty and be ready for other lessons waiting for you.

What is Soca Music?

!±8± What is Soca Music?

This material is primarily for those who are in line with the new in this kind of soca music. As a recording artist for soca songs for the past eight years, and who has won Caribbean wide soca competitions, I humbly attempt to present a comprehensive introduction to soca music.

Soca music on the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. It 'widely acknowledged to have been the Lord Shorty (born Garfield Blackman) was created. He noticed that Calypso musicthreatened by the ever-popular reggae music and dying out and attempted to create a new hybrid, was appealing to the masses. He fused Indian music with calypso music, and this has led to a hybrid called Solkar energy, beyond the Soca. Lord Shorty introduced soca to the world in 1973 with his hit, Indrani.

Naturally, soca music of the seventies is very different from what exists today. Today, there are two types, namely Power Soca and Groovy Soca. What is the main difference between the two?

Power soca music is very fast, with times of about 160 beats per minute. The music is mostly of an educational nature. Soca artists thrive on motivating audiences to respond to their dance instructions. Power soca music is largely music to jump, wave and "wine". ("Wine" comes from the "wind" and the word is a type of dance is hip movement). Reaction crowd is crucial.

Trinidad Soca artist, credited with Super Bluewith starting the craze "jump and wave". His success with this type of soca was so incredible that since then most soca songs written with a mass response in mind.

Today, the challenge for power soca songwriters songs that move the audience, but I'm not a regurgitation of the jump and wave theme can write. This is not the easiest of tasks due to the nature of the festival that soca music is centered around. Soca music is largely carnival music. Since Mardi Gras is allJumping and waving, the music should be, pushing the capacity to generate such activity. Increasingly, artists are writing to, songs that are not necessarily to "jump and wave" or waving rags and flags of success. In an attempt to stay clear of monotony, themes like love, peace and coexistence are very often.

Groovy soca music is probably a better way to drive soca music forward internationally. And 'much slower, about 115 beats per minute. This newer type of socaallows a wider range of issues to be addressed. Unlike the total frenzy, the power produced soca, soca music, Groovy is to influence and dance slowly. Artists like Kevin Lyttle and Rupee have demonstrated that this type of music is very palatable to mainstream music, will be called with international hits like "Turn Me On" and "Tempted To Touch". Another artist that has international recognition with a groove / crossover soca, Barbados is based artist, Alison Hinds.

I thinkFast and groovy soca music should continue to coexist. I readily accept all variations of soca and put none against the other. The music is dynamic. Throughout history no genre has always remained the same, and hybrids are constantly created.

In addition to the power and groove soca, soca music include ragga soca other types of soca and chutney.

Ragga soca is a fusion of soca and dancehall music. Ragga soca artists are Trinidians, Bunji Garlin and Maximus Dan

Chutney Soca isa mix of East Indian chutney music and soca. Chutney Soca is an up-tempo, rhythmic type of song, a traditional Indian musical instruments Dholakia, fee, and harmonium accompanied dhantal.

The line of demarcation between the different kinds of soca music is defined less and less clear. Sometimes it can be very difficult and controversial pin-point what is groovy, power, or ragga soca. There is so much fusion taking place that is often difficult to tell whether a songis really a soca song. For example, some have argued that "Roll It Gal" hit Alison Hinds' is not really a soca song but an R & B-influenced song with an Indian. Even if you do not support this view, it goes to show that there are clear distinctions and definitions. Soca music, like other forms of music is an art and not be limited to a specific mold or exclusive.

Soca music is largely competitive. Every year artists try to outdo each other in competitions such as the carnivalSoca Monarch and Road March. Run a contest Soca Monarch artists before a wide audience and be judged by a jury. A road march song is the song that most in the course of a parade of street carnival will be played. Each Caribbean island has its own competitions. Prices are hundreds of thousands of dollars for each winner quantities, especially in Trinidad and Tobago.

Some of the biggest soca artists in the industry have bowed out of competition. These include big names such asMachel Montano, Bunji Garlin and KMC. The popular view is that "music is a mission, no competition." Personally I find such competitions to be a very negative force, so unwanted friction between artists. As an artist I have my struggles. However, gaining a lot of fun that can be difficult to exit. Fans will be able to invite artists to compete against their will inexorably. The way they are set in these competitions, it is easy to go unnoticed, except byHand, if you are not already firmly rooted in the market.

Popular soca performers include Machel Montano, Right, Alison Hinds, Atlantik, KMC, Shurwayne Winchester, Denise Belfon, Bomani, Bunji Garlin, Iwer George, Bomani, Kevin Lyttle, Tizzy, Maximus Dan, Mr. Killa, Mantius, Fireman Hooper, Jamesy P Tallpree, Claudette Peters, Burning Flames, Nicole David, Ricky T, Qpid and Krosfyah.

Some of the biggest soca hits as "Turn Me On" by Kevin Lyttle, "seeks toTouch "by Rupee," Who Let the Dogs Out "Baha Men (originally sung by Anselm Douglas)," Sweet Soca Music "by Sugar Daddy," Nookie "by Jamesy P," Hot Hot Hot "by Buster Poindexter (originally sung by the arrow) and "Follow the Leader" by Soca Boys (originally sang by Nigel and Marvin Lewis).

Instrumentation

Wind instruments like trumpets and trombones are very typical of soca music. Sometimes, the saxophone is made of brass sections. Although these tools are still in usesynthesizers and samplers in live performance are increasingly replacing them, particularly in the recording studio and small gigs. Soca is very percussion and drum driven, and these are often very strong in the mix soca. The bass is very important. Other instruments are guitars and keyboards.

Soca leading producers of Caribbean islands including Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda.
